Treatment of Hair Loss in Women

Hair loss due to psychological reasons is quite common in women. Many women say that they are emotionally affected when their hair starts to fall out. This causes hair loss in women and, albeit rarely, balding.
Alternatives that can be applied in the treatment of genetic hair loss in women are limited. There are no medical treatments with good results in terms of treatment for hair loss in women. Since hair loss in women can be easily camouflaged with existing hair, many women can tolerate this situation. Hair loss in women varies depending on some reasons. Complaints may increase after birth and during menopause. Seasonal transitions, hormonal changes, health-related conditions and external factors also affect the increase of these complaints.

In the treatment of hair loss, first of all, the diagnosis should be made correctly. An effective treatment method should then be applied. Hair loss is the field of dermatology and examination of the patient by a dermatologist will be the first step for diagnosis and treatment. It is easy to recognize genetically occurring hair loss in men, and laboratory tests are usually needed for non-standard male and female hair loss when a laboratory test is not needed.

Treatment of genetic hair loss
To date, only two drugs have been approved by the FDA for the treatment of genetic hair loss. Minoxidil and Finasteride.

Minoxidil
It can be used in both male and female genetic hair loss. Although the mechanism of action is not fully known, it is thought to be via mitochondria. Although it is not a definitive solution, it can delay the process and provide relief.

Finasteride
It’s only used in the genetic breakdown of men. Finasteride blocks the conversion of testosterone to DHT. It is mostly preferred in young patients. Various side effects, such as decreased sexual desire, may occur in a small number of patients.

Mesotherapy
The active ingredients listed above and various vitamins are injected into the skin. There are no exact results on efficacy and side effects. It has not been proven superior to the above drugs. It’s not entirely therapeutic. Although current studies show that treatment is insufficient, more studies are needed. Not yet approved by the FDA. Your doctor will decide whether the treatment is suitable for you.

PRP
The active ingredients listed above and various vitamins are injected into the skin. There are not enough studies on its effectiveness. More scientific studies are needed. Not yet approved by the FDA. Your doctor will decide whether the treatment is suitable for you.

Laser treatment in hair loss

Low-level laser treatments were first used to increase hair growth in 1992 and received FDA approval in 2007, which includes the safety other than the treatment of hair loss. In this process, diode-laser induces cell growth.

Treatment of non-genetic hair loss
The treatment depends entirely on the diagnosis. Usually, laboratory testing and biopsy are required. Explaining different treatment models for each diagnosis here can confuse patients. It is best to get help from a dermatologist. All treatment methods and contents listed above may vary in the light of scientific developments. Your doctor will determine the right approaches and decisions.
